Among the thousands of people who went 'Ganjing' the carnival style on Sunday were students sporting DSLR cam, many eras, zooming into the finer features of the district administration's maiden effort. And if Hazratganj, decked up in all its glory for the occasion, promised to provide interesting photo-ops to those looking for them, it delivered as well.
As Harshit Verma, an undergrad student of Commerce in Lucknow, who turned up with his DSLR camera at the Hazratganj Carnival, puts it, "It was very hot and humid on Sunday , and it was very, very crowded in Ganj. But I got some great shots of the crowd and the candid moments."
GROUP SHOT Like Harshit, Paras Kannaujia too was there to click pictures of the mega event because he's fond of photography . A student of B.Com at Lucknow University , Paras came to the Carnival with a group of five other amateur photographers who are part of a bigger group called the Lucknow Youth Photography Group. "We undertake photo walks from time to time, and we thought this would be an interesting event to learn some tricks about photography," he says, adding that they will be sharing photos from the event with each other on Facebook.
Another group of students who were present at the Hazratganj Carnival, eyeing the picture perfect frame, was from the Manyawar Kan shiram Institute of Tourism Management, which works under the aegis of the UP government. "We usually get to know about events organised by the UP Tourism in advance and use them to hone our photography skills," says Priyanshu Yadav, who was there with other students from his college, who have all got together to form an amateur photography club. "At the Hazratganj Carnival, some of our friends were on volunteer duty for UP Tourism, so we came to give them company and click pictures as well," he adds.
PAGE UPDATE A lot of these youngsters have already uploaded the pics from Sunday's event on their social media accounts. Anuraj Pratap Singh, who has appeared for his Class XII Boards this year, will also be doing so soon. "I have been clicking for the last three years,“ says Anuraj, talking about his passion for photography , and adds, “I was hoping to get some good shots at the Hazraganj Carnival to upload on my FB page, and I managed to."
HOMEWORK FOR PHOTOGRAPHY STUDENTS Karan Sharma, on the other hand, says it was logical for him to turn up at the event on Sunday with his camera and tripod as he is studying Photography in college. "I am doing a course in Visual and Design Arts from Delhi, and photography is one of the subjects in our course. So I was hoping to capture some interesting frames at the event. And I think I have succeeded."
